Patient Profile Jon Berndsen
Air Show Pilot and Custom Home Builder No Longer Needs Reading Glasses
For InView patient Jon Berndsen, glasses or contact lenses were not an option. A pilot who flew gliders in competitions and performed at air shows, being able to see his airplanes instruments with his near vision and the horizon with his distance vision was critical. Although just a hobby, flying airplanes is a very big part of his life, as Jon resides in the fly-in airport community of North Atlanta.
“When flying in very tight formation with a group of airplanes or performing aerobatics, being able to quickly focus up close on the instruments and simultaneously back out of the cockpit to the distance is critical. Reading glasses or bifocals just won’t work.”
Tired of having to rely on reading glasses for his near vision, Jon began researching options available to restore his vision. Upon hearing there was a treatment option for Presbyopia, the loss of near vision, Jon decided to visit InView. He was not sure that he would be a candidate for LASIK, but after a meeting with Dr. Keith Thompson, he learned that he would be a great candidate for “modified monovision” LASIK Surgery. Through many happy patients at InView, this procedure has proven to be a successful alternative to life without reading glasses.
“I interviewed several of the top LASIK clinics in Atlanta and I’m here to say that the thoroughness and detail of the eye exams and state of the art equipment used by InView clearly set them apart from others. I was really shocked by the vast difference between InView and the others. There was simply no comparison and InView even charged less than what others quoted!”
Monovision is just one of the many different treatment options that InView offers. Doctors Keith Thompson and George Waring have been leading the way in new treatments and clinical trials for over 12 years. Through their work, thousands of patients like Jon are experiencing the freedom to enjoy their favorite activities without the hassle of wearing glasses or contacts.
