Patient Education InView Vision
The leader in Vision Correction.

Life is about details.
Being free of glasses
Being free of your glasses or contact lenses
is a life altering experience. Imagine what you could do with better
vision...
Get inspired by the majestic beauty of
the outdoors. See the alarm clock. Take in the rugged mountain landscape.
Clearly read distant road signs. Play sports comfortably, easily
and better. See underwater while swimming with your kids. Work outside
without glasses sliding down your nose.
At InView, you won't just get rid of your
glasses or contacts. You'll have vision that's as sharp as it can
be, thanks to InterWave ® . Only
InView gives you InterWave ® ,
a technology that takes LASIK to a whole new level. We understand
that eliminating corrective eyewear would make a significant difference
in one's life. Whether you're an athlete, pilot, photographer or
a mom wanting to see her son make the winning basket, sharp, clear
vision not only changes your perspective, but also changes your
life.
Life is about details
Details can be different things to
different people.
The outline of a leaf from 20 feet away.
A miniscule bubble at the bottom of the tub. A reflection in the
lake. The fibers in an old, hand-knitted sweater. The intricacies
of a snowflake as it turns into tiny ice crystals. Seeing what lies
beneath the water's surface.
Details also mean seeing the big picture.
For physicians and staff at InView, the big picture is our commitment
to providing the highest quality of care in an atmosphere of calmness,
comfort and confidence. That's why more than 50,000 people have
come to InView for vision correction surgery in the last eleven years.
How did we become one of the nation's premier
providers for vision correction surgery?
By providing:
- Superior care
- Optimal vision
- And InterWave ® technology
We earned that distinction and reputation through our commitment to
redefining vision one patient at a time.
Only InView And InterWave ® can redefine your vision
Thanks to InterWave ® technology, now there's a new measurement of success.
What is InterWave ® ?
It's InView's revolutionary technology
that optimizes vision with laser vision surgery. Through InterWave ® technology, we are committed
to giving you a level of clarity previously unattainable in LASIK.
How?
- InterWave ® is the most comprehensive way to measure and improve your
vision - even if you've already had refractive surgery.
- An extensive preoperative exam determines
if a patient is medically appropriate for surgery.
- The InterWave ® Scanner provides an accurate measurement of the entire
visual system, including the cornea, lens, retina, optic nerve
and visual cortex of the brain.
Unlike conventional measurements that are made through a single
region of the cornea, InterWave ® technology allows for measurements in up to 75 points for each
eye. Digital pupillometry also gives surgeons precise dimensions
of the size, location and response of the pupil in dim and bright
light.
- InterWave ® technology calculates exact eye measurements to get you
the best vision achievable.
- Individuals who undergo InterWave ® LASIK find that glare and halos,
which are associated with traditional LASIK, are significantly
reduced. And, night vision is sharper.
To put it simply, an accurate, pinpointed diagnosis of the eye is
the only way to ensure optimal vision correction and dramatically
improve your quality of life. And InterWave ® technology is only available at one of
the nation's premier providers for vision correction surgery - InView.
Look at who we are
Incredible credentials. That's the first
thing you notice about InView physicians. They possess years of
experience in refractive surgery and have earned and maintained
advanced degrees and certifications. Our physicians are highly trained,
board - certified surgeons who have performed over 40,000 LASIK
procedures since 1994.
Each and every member of the InView team
is dedicated to helping patients. The LASIK experience is a partnership
between you, the surgeon and all the healthcare professionals at
InView, working along with your referring physician. Additionally,
we work closely with ophthalmologists and optometrist members of
our professional provider network who can perform your screening,
diagnostic examination and follow up care. This network allows you

Where do you see yourself?
InView can change your life.* Just ask
our patients.
"After LASIK, I was able to see the space
between the leaves for the first time. I never realized how three-dimensional
the world truly is until LASIK."
"The most amazing of all is that I have
vision that I never recall having had before - even when I wore
glasses - it's an incredible gift."
" I have a freedom I didn't know I could
have this late in life...Sometimes I wonder where I would be if
I had been born with vision like this."
"The fact that I still cry every morning
in joy that I can see the alarm clock is significant to me!"
"I can read the news streamer at the bottom
of the television screen."
"When I realized that they could personalize
the surgery for me, I thought it would be a tremendous advantage,
and I was right."
With InterWave ® technology, you won't just get rid of your glasses or contacts.
You could have vision that's as sharp as it can be. And clearer
vision brings a touch of peace to busy lives.
Through the eyes of visionaries
Visionaries are of every age and lifestyle.
They come from a variety of backgrounds. Many have worn glasses
their entire lives. And now they are liberated from the burden of
glasses and contacts, and from seeing through artificial lenses.
The common bond they share is having the highest quality of vision
attainable. You, too, can share this special bond through The InView
Visionary Program.
Visionary members receive post-surgery
follow-up care, physician support, newsletters and Internet/e-mail
resources to ensure a lifetime of quality care and optimal vision.
As part of our Visionary group, you will also receive invitations
to special events, Atlanta Braves baseball games and fun celebrations
with other InView patients and our staff.
What happens next?
1. The 4Sight LASIK Examination
When you call for your appointment, a patient
counselor will answer your questions, complete an initial vision
profile screening over the phone, and schedule your 4Sight LASIK
exam using InterWave ® .
At the initial examination, you'll spend
about two to three hours at InView to determine the amount and kind
of vision correction needed, and identify your pupil size and corneal
thickness.
The 4Sight LASIK exam includes:
- A complete eye exam
- Manifest refraction
- Cycloplegic refraction
- Dilated retinal exam
- Pupil size measurement in bright and
dim light
- Measurement of the posterior corneal
curvature
- Contrast sensitivity testing
- Glare testing
- Endothelial cell count
- InterWave ® scanning
The specially trained patient counselors at InView will tell you more
about the surgery and what you will experience.
How does InterWave ® technology work?
It's as simple and painless as playing
a video game. You look through a scope and interact with a computer
using a joystick to center a dot of light within a target. The computer
in the InterWave ® Scanner measures
the visual aberrations and the vision at particular points on your
cornea. No other measurement technology uses patient feedback to
measure vision. This allows InterWave ® to obtain the most precise results. By measuring up to 75
different points across the pupil, we're able to build a comprehensive
map of all the visual aberrations of the eye. Conventional LASIK
has used a "one size fits all" technique of vision measurement.
InterWave ® technology better
maps each person's eye so that the surgery is tailor-made, resulting
in sharper, clearer vision than traditional LASIK surgery.
2. Surgery Qualifications
In addition to having healthy eyes that
are free of disease and corneal malformation, your pupil size and
corneal thickness determines if you are a good candidate for LASIK
surgery. If you do not qualify as a candidate for LASIK, we may
recommend another procedure. Your physician will discuss with you
what's best for your specific needs.
After age 40, the eye gradually becomes
a single-focused optical system that can view either near objects
or distant objects clearly - but not both. LASIK does not prevent
presbyopia, the age-related loss of the eye's ability to vary its
focusing power. Thus, if you have your eyes corrected for best distance
vision, you will need a pair of reading glasses. As an alternative,
you may elect to have another vision correction procedure such as MultiFocus LASIK, CK, or Refractive Lens Exchange. You should discuss this with your doctor to determine
what's best for you.
3. The Day of Your LASIK Surgery
- Just before surgery, some additional
vision tests will be performed and your surgeon will review the
surgical plan and ensure that all of your questions have been
answered.
- Next, drops will anesthetize your eyelid
and the surface of your eye, making it numb. There are no injections
or IVs.
- An eyelid speculum will be used to keep
your eye open during the procedure. The surgery involves making
a tiny flap on the surface of the cornea. A laser passes over
the underlying cornea to reshape it, and then the flap is replaced
into position.
- The laser treatment itself is painless
and will last approximately 10 to 60 seconds per eye, depending
upon the amount of correction required.
- On the day of your surgery, plan to spend
approximately two to three hours at InView. You will also need
someone to drive you home.
4. After Surgery
Most LASIK patients see well enough to
return to normal activities - drive, work at the office, etc. -
the first morning after surgery. However, the healing time fluctuates
from patient to patient, particularly during the first three days
following surgery. Your surgeon is available to speak or consult
with you should you have any concerns or questions about your vision
and the healing process.
5. Follow-Up Exams
After 24 hours, your vision will be checked
to ensure that your cornea is healing properly. A thorough postoperative
schedule includes visits at two weeks, three, six and 12 months
following the procedure.
When it comes to superior care and optimal
vision, InView and InterWave ® technology have redefined vision - one patient at a time. To talk
to our specially trained staff and schedule an initial examination,
call 404-843-3937 or 1-800-733-6673. A patient counselor can tell
you more about the surgery and what you will experience. Your counselor
also can arrange a tour of the facility and provide you with additional
resource materials.
If you are someone who wants vision that's
as sharp as it can be, call InView.
* These are individual patient experiences.
At your 4Sight exam, your physician will discuss potential outcomes
with you.
